He is passionate about working with recovering addicts as well as their families & loved ones in order to give hope to any difficult situation. He oversees the hard-working Opus staff with kindness and generosity while making sure everyone does their absolute best at providing professional care to each patient who steps into the Opus facilities.
She completed her undergraduate then went on to receive a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from California Baptist University. She is a Licensed Addiction Counselor with CCAPP.
Kim likes to emphasize a person-centered and strengths-based approach to her therapeutic modalities. Kim’s personal experiences and strong passion has helped many individuals and families overcome the various obstacles of addiction. Kim’s other passions include spending time with her family and traveling all over the world.
Her genuine passion for rehabilitation and serving as a patient advocate makes her an invaluable asset to our team. At Opus, she skillfully bridges her clinical bedside nursing skills with her administrative experience to oversee and deliver safe and quality patient-centered care to our clients.
Christina is known amongst her peers and patients for her unsurmountable compassion, ability to develop strong rapport, sense of humor, and non-judgmental attitude. Her professionalism, leadership, critical thinking skills and desire to meet & exceed the needs of her clients enriches the care delivered here at Opus Health.
Laura is a rational thinker with an analytical business sense. She is a compassionate team player that believes in the hope of recovery, and her goal is to help those seeking recovery find a better way of life.

After his experience in recovery, Karifa chose to further his education in order to serve as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC). Karifa loves his work as a CADC because he gets to help his clients “become the sons, fathers, and brothers they were meant to be”.
He now oversees the men’s residential treatment program at Opus Health. Before that, he spent 5 years working as a Case Manager and Client Advocate for Opus Health. In each of his roles, he aids clients to focus on their reason for entering treatment.
At Opus Health, Dr. Martin relies on state-of-the-art approaches to treat an array of substances including alcohol, opiate pills, heroin, amphetamines, and benzodiazepines.
He’s a skilled addiction specialist who determines the most appropriate course of care for achieving optimal results in each client. He offers both traditional abstinence-based and medical assisted treatment.
After completing his bachelor’s degree at Portland State University in Portland Oregon, Dr. Martin earned his medical degree at the American University Caribbean. This was followed by residency training in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with Temple University and in Johnstown, Pennsylvania at Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital. He worked as an emergency room physician for 15 years gaining a wide variety of experience. When he was offered a position at Opus Health due to his experience, he soon found his passion in addiction medicine.
He began as an MFT intern at Childnet Behavioral Health Services in Long Beach, CA where he then worked for 6 years. From there he began his private practice where he worked with all ages overcome their emotional, psychological, and behavioral challenges. He has experience in treating depression, ADD/ADHD, impulse control disorders, anxiety disorders, oppositional defiance, sexual and physical abuse, and addiction/substance dependence and abuse.
In March 2013, he became a clinical supervisor at Sober Living By the Sea in Newport Beach where he provided individual, family, and group therapy for many of the clients and employees. At Opus, he is a great help to patients and staff alike in their ongoing journey of recovery.
Ashlyn has experience providing individual, group, and family therapy with clients facing a variety of concerns, focusing primarily on substance abuse, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, emotional regulation, and attention & impulse-control.
Ashlyn utilizes a collaborative and non-pathologizing approach which seeks to highlight an individual’s many abilities, skills, values and beliefs. Ashlyn is passionate about creating a safe space for her clients and working together to navigate through their journey of healing and growth.
